Are You Planning a December Holiday in Cape Town?

cape-town-holidaysThe much-anticipated December holidays may indeed be several months away, but if you’re seeking accommodation in and around Cape Town around that period, you’d best start making your bookings now! While you may not be in any hurry to finalise your holiday plans for Christmas and the New Year celebrations, we are already receiving a high volume of inquiries for December. The end-of-the-year accommodation is getting booked fast!

Perhaps you’re thinking of taking a look at some accommodation for the December holidays around August or September. Attractions like the beaches of Camps Bay come to mind, or those of Bloubergstrand. A stay in Century City gives you access to the delightful Canal Walk shopping mall. Accommodation in Milnerton puts you near to the coast as well as provides direct access to the Cape Town City Centre. You might still have success finding a base from which to explore and enjoy the holiday attractions of Cape Town, but it’s more than likely that all the best options will have been taken already!

If you are a first-time visitor to the Cape during December, there are a few facts you need to learn.

What’s better,’ you may ask, ‘about booking accommodation so early in the year? ‘

Plenty, in fact. Read on to find out more and why, even as you’re reading, you should be getting in touch with us about accommodation in and around Cape Town.

Availability is less around this period

We have been in the tourism industry for years now and trust us when we say, you don’t want to be making your enquiries around, let’s say, November. From years of experience, we can tell you that the last thing we want is to not be able to give travellers the deal that they want. Often in this short period before December, the amount of enquiries increases and our best packages get snapped up for most of the holiday period. Then the amount of appealing deals becomes less and you will have just a small percentage of a chance of getting accommodation in the area that you’re seeking to reside in. Many holidaymakers end up being disappointed at not having the accommodation that they wanted.

December looks busier this year

While it’s a given that there will be a demand for accommodation during December, we have already received loads of inquiries for this period. Not only because it’s when the summer returns, or just because it’s the month of Christmas and New Year’s Eve and Day celebrations. This December, things are happening in Cape Town.

In a previous post, it was our pleasure to announce that the Cape Town Stadium in Green Point is officially the venue for the South African leg of the HSBC Sevens World Series (sevens rugby). The stadium will commence serving as a venue for this international event in December, meaning that accommodation in Green Point could be fully booked well before November arrives.

The V&A Waterfront, Cape Town’s number 1 tourist attraction, is hosting an event this December. The V&A Waterfront Summer Sunset Concerts is a free event taking place at the Amphitheatre just outside the Victoria Wharf Shopping Centre. With views of the ocean and Table Mountain surrounding the V&A Waterfront, this is a concert not to be missed and it will surely attract scores of visitors.

With all that’s happening in and around Cape Town, this December, you’d better join in on all the inquiries we’re receiving, otherwise by November we might not be able to help you at all.

Other reasons why you should book now

Besides the aforementioned lovely weather that we are expecting for December, the weaker currency of the South African rand will definitely make Cape Town a popular destination for holiday seekers.

The natural beauty that surrounds the Mother City should never be forgotten. With sights that include Table Mountain, the Twelve Apostles mountain range, Lion’s Head and the gardens of Kirstenbosch and the beaches of Camps Bay, Clifton as well as those found on the West Coast, it’s no surprise that we are already receiving inquiries for the many properties in our portfolio.

If you don’t believe us, you could always wait until October or as late as November, but we strongly advise against this and as you have read, we have the experience to back up what we’re saying. Make your enquiries today and have the December vacation that you will remember fondly as well as the experience that will keep you coming back to the city of Cape Town.
