Learn all about the old steam trains that ran through the country by visiting the Outeniqua Transport Museum in George, located in the stunning Garden Route. This educational and wonderful museum is a real treat to guests, showcasing various models of steam locomotives and a selection of 13 various models, that include the narrow gauge that was Johannesburg’s first locomotive train, the GL Garrett which impresses all with its bygone era carriages and private saloons and a number of other interesting things to see, such as an inspired collection of steam locomotive number plates, makers plates and even a model train room. The exhibition also displays road motor vehicles that are an alluring blast from the past and a vintage car selection that brings everything together.

This exciting museum is open to guests of all ages and can also be hired for special occasions like weddings and functions. Inside the museum is a lovely coffee shop, while entrance fees are kept low while childen under 6 can enter for free, to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to enjoy this amazing transport museum. The museum is open from Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, Saturdays from 8 am to 2 pm and closed on Sundays.
