Bartholomeus Klip is an exclusive destination in the Riebeek Valley, 25 minutes drive from Riebeek Kasteel, in the Cape Winelands, located on a working sheep and wheat farm at the Elandsberg Nature Reserve. Discerning travellers will appreciate the peace and quiet.

An easy drive of just over an hour from Cape Town, the romantic and supremely comfortable farmhouse is set beneath a spectacular mountain range, and surrounded by well-kept farmland and a 10,000-acre nature reserve.

There is a long history of hospitality at Bartholomeus Klip, which shows in the friendly smiles that greet guests and the relaxed atmosphere of the homestead. Guests are welcome to make the house their own, perhaps in one of the reception rooms where an open fire crackles in the winter months, or on the broad veranda that winds around the house and catches the late afternoon sun.

Wild Olive House, which was opened in response to requests for self-catering accommodation at Bartholomeus Klip, has proved very popular with groups of friends and families. The house has its own garden, swimming pool, large shady veranda and outdoor facilities for braaing.

Accommodation inside Wild Olive House consists of a spacious open-plan sitting room, dining room and beautifully equipped kitchen, 2 airy double bedrooms, a third smaller bedroom with bunk beds, and 2 bathrooms. The self contained Wild Olive Cottage has a terrace which looks out over the reserve and up to the mountains.

The restaurant is open for lunch, with a weekly changing 3-course set menu with welcome drink and tea or coffee.
