Named for the childrens tag game, Die Laaitjie is so called as it nestles in the smallest and last of the Dassieshoek valleys in the Langeberg mountains. Despite being so completely remote, the farm is only 7 kilometres from the centre of Robertson.

A long, scenic gravel road leads to Die Laaitjie, a 330 Ha working farm that produces fruit and wine in the hand-crafted methode ancienne manner. The farm is situated alone in a bowl made by the surrounding mountains. 25 Ha of the farm consists of peach, pear and apricot trees, all of which fill the valley with colourful blossoms during the spring months.

Accommodation consists of several self-catering cottages. There is a small 2 sleeper cottage overlooking a dam, as well as two newly renovated cottages, each with two double bedrooms.

The style of these cottages are simple and monastic, mostly decorated in an all-white, serene manner. Each cottage has its own porch, an internal fireplace, as well as an external braai. There is also a communal swimming pool in the orchards, with a surrounding deck area.

The mountains are criss-crossed with hiking, walking and horse-riding trails suitable for all levels of expertise. Enjoy a gentle stroll to the river before breakfast, or spend a whole day exploring the ravines. Horse-trailing can be arranged in conjunction with a neighbouring farm specialising in horses.
