Bloubergstrand Beach

Western Cape, Cape Town, Bloubergstrand

Description

Bloubergstrand's beach is the reason why this famous Cape Town area has its name. The word "Blouberg" literally translates to "Blue Mountain". This is due to Table Mountain having a blue colour when you view it from the Bloubergstrand beach. You can enjoy this view along with those of Robben Island, Lion's Head and Devil's Peak across the Atlantic Ocean, with the added sights of the surfers and kite surfers who frequent the area because of the legendary strong winds of Table Bay. Take a leisurely stroll along the coast here, where you can also discover a large number of white mussels, which the locals extract from the sand with a process called jiving. Furthermore, there are many restaurants, cafés and bars close to Bloubergstrand's beach, some even on the beachfront, ensuring you a lovely setting, enjoying a tasty meal as you watch the sun set behind the Atlantic Ocean.
