Morgenhof Wine Estate

Western Cape, Cape Town , Stellenbosch

Description

Combine award winning wines with the undeniably beautiful scenery of the distant Simonsberg Mountains and surrounding vineyards and a selection of lovely eateries, to discover why Morhenhof Wine Estate stands out as a truly exceptional wine farm in the gorgeous Cape Winelands region. The Morgenhof Wine estate dates back to the year 1692 and consists of an impressive 213 hectares of land, of which 78 are under vines and produce a whopping 35000 cases of wine annually. Founder Anne Cointreau comes from a long line of fine wine producers of French decent, which clearly shows in the success of Morgenhof itself. The Morgenhof vineyards are farmed as dry land, which produces smaller yields of greater concentrated berry and fruit flavours. The portfolio of wines offered here includes a mixture of whites, reds and divine Sauvignon Blancs and Chenin Blancs. The ‘Le Tastevin’ tasting room is a fantastic underground cellar, while the lovely French Rose Garden is tranquil and fragrant.

The trendy Morgenhof restaurant takes pride in the historical elements of the estate and serves exciting contemporary cuisine, while the Dame Jeanne Coffee Shop provides lovely baked goods and treats to accompany the selection of wines. Another exciting dining option is to enjoy a famous Morgenhof picnic during the warmer summer months, where scrumptious baskets can be pre-ordered for special dates or family outings.
