Platbos is an ancient indigenous forest situated at the foot of Africa. The forest, found on the slopes of the Baviaanspoort Hills, is located on the Grootbos Road between the fishing village of Gansbaai and the seaside town of Hermanus in the Western Cape Province.
Southern Right Whales gather each year in Spring to birth their young in the blue waters of Walker Bay, a few kilometers away from the forest. The vegetation surrounding the forest comprises low-growing limestone fynbos, an endangered ecosystem of immense floral biodiversity, coastal thickets, cultivated fields and dense stands of invasive alien vegetation.
Platbos Forest offers accommodation in various cabins, from which guests can choose from. Enjoy relaxing and off-grid accommodation in the Old Olive Cabin, Bush Buck Suit and the Honey Bee Suite.
Each cabin features a fully equipped kitchen with a double gas plate for cooking, pots, pans, cutlery and crockery. There are no stoves, microwaves or fridges as everything is off-grid. However, there is a communal freezer for use at the Info Hut.

Olive Cabin

Old Olive is the perfect "get away" for couples or a small family of four. Like the Forest Camp, Old Olive is totally off-grid. The cabin is situated right in the forest and to minimize impacts to this sensitive environment, the cottage is accessed by a short, beautiful walk through the forest.

Important Information
- After confirmation of booking, guests will receive an email with directions to the unit.
- Due to the high volume of enquiries and correspondence received in this regard, it is not possible to reserve the accommodation in a guests name without a deposit to secure it.
- No pets.
- No loud music.
Cancellation Policy
- Cancellation 4 weeks and more notice: 90% refund.
- Cancellation 2 to 4 weeks notice: 50% refund.
- Cancellation less than 2 weeks: no refund.
- Please note that in the case of unforeseen circumstances that result in guests not being able to honour original booking date at the last moment, if unable to fill resulting cancellation, full payment is still due.
