Aquila Safari Lodge is a 4 star establishment in the Southern Karoo. The reserve is a 10,000 hectare conservancy and home to the big 5 legends of the wilderness - elephant, lion, buffalo, leopard and rhino.
Aquila Game Reserve has two large swimming pools, each with a pool bar overlooking the reserve. There are large dining areas, and cosy cigar bars and lounges. Aquila has a library, curio shop and children’s entertainment area.
Aquila Game Reserve is the closest private game reserve to Cape Town, being a short drive from the city. Aquila is located in the historic Touws River town, in a valley between the Langeberg and the Outeniqua Mountains in the Karoo.
Aquila offers a wide variety of safaris - day trip safaris, horseback safaris, quad bike safari, overnight and fly-in safaris. There are other activities on offer like 4 x 4 trails, fishing and themed weekend breakaways.
Accommodation options at Aquila Private Game Reserve include premier, family or luxury chalets. The reserve brings the outdoors inside, using earthy tones and decor in browns and beiges, thatch, slate and rock elements. Special attention has been paid to chalet privacy and unbridled picture-perfect views of the reserve.
Aquila Safari Lodge accommodation options include premier, family or luxury. All options contain the ruggedness necessary to capture the essence of the bush environment, without compromising on luxury and comfort.
There are five premier chalets available. Premier chalets are privately situated and have been built into the hillside. Each unit has been adorned with alfresco rock showers and indoor fire-places.
Family chalets are semi-detached, feature exterior stone work and come with their very own back-to-nature outdoor shower. Luxury chalets are a hideaway haven. Snug, cosy and everything you would expect in an overnight, mid-week or weekend retreat.

Standard Luxury accommodation is a collection of semi detached units. Chalets have thatch roofs and feature exterior stone work. The cottages do not compromise the experience nor standard.
Each unit is a unique contemporary African design. Each has its own patio, corner bath and outdoor rock shower.

They are under thatch and feature exterior stone work using raw materials from the area. The large en-suite bathrooms feature corner baths with outdoor showers. Not compromising on luxury, quality percale linen is used throughout. Chalets are snug and leisurely, and were made with the outdoors in mind.

They are constructed from wood, stone and thatch and feature fans, air conditioners and fireplaces. Each en-suite bathroom is unique, with twin hand basins, bath and toilet. The cottages offer a wooden deck with panoramic views across the expanse of the reserve. The Honeymoon Suite (the jewel in Aquila’s crown) boasts a private alfresco Jacuzzi.

Situated adjacent to the restaurant is the newly built Aquila Lodge, comprising 3 levels, accessible by a glass panelled lift with magnificent Karoo vistas. A modern Afro-chic interior design is used in the lodge.
There are 22 Mountain View Rooms situated in Aquila Lodge. They have large balconies overlooking the reserve with magnificent views. Full bathrooms with separate showers and views from the baths. 2 x twins beds which can be made up to Queen size beds.
The lodge rooms have tea and coffee making facilities only.

There are 22 Standard Rooms situated in Aquila Lodge. They each have twin beds which can be made up to Queen size beds, they look away from the reserve and have a shower en suite. These rooms do not have a view.
The lodge rooms have tea and coffee making facilities only.

Family Lodge Room

Situated adjacent to the restaurant is the newly built Aquila Lodge, comprising 3 levels, accessible by a glass panelled lift with magnificent Karoo vistas, with 22 Mountain View Lodge rooms facing the reserve and the mountains and another 22 Standard Lodge rooms facing away from the reserve. Modern Afro-chic interior design is used in the lodge.
Lodge Family Units are comprised of a Mountain View Room and a Standard Room. Together they are converted to Luxury Family Suites. They interconnect by a common passageway. The entrance to the passageway may be locked, as well as both bedrooms, forming a private and safe space for families.

- 50% of the rate will be charged for the whole period of the reservation if a written cancellation notice is received within 45 to 15 days before the expected date of arrival
- 100% of the rate will be charged for the whole period of the reservation if a written cancellation notice is received within 14 to 01 days before the expected date of arrival
- No shows: 100% charge for the booking
- Late arrival/ early departures: 100% charge for the total stay booked
- Bookings cancelled one day before or on the arrival date will be considered a No Show.
