Sea Point – Where to Go and What to Do

640px-Aerial_View_of_Sea_Point,_Cape_Town_South_AfricaSituated between Signal Hill and the Atlantic Ocean, the charming area of Sea Point, though upmarket, with its gorgeously designed properties, is a popular venue for both tourists and locals from surrounding areas. The reason why this beautiful area is so popular is because of all that visitors can get up to while exploring the area. A wide variety of attractions is available that cater to a wide range of people. Come and experience it for yourself by booking one of the accommodation units we have on offer in Sea Point!

One of the main attractions to check out is the Sea Point Promenade. Originating from the neighbouring area of Mouille Point, this is a long, wide path extending along the coast all the way to Bantry Bay. This great length of a path is a favoured spot for many and commonly features families and friends strolling together, the more health conscious joggers and cyclists as well as the thrill-seeking ones on roller blades and skateboards. Besides the shared appeal of being on the picturesque Promenade, everyone gets to indulge in the fresh sea air and wonderful views of Lion’s Head and the Atlantic Ocean. The Promenade leads to some of Sea Point’s other attractions.

One of the attractions that the Promenade leads to is Sea Point’s very own outdoor gym. Holiday and business travellers who find stimulation in working out can quickly and easily reach this gym, where you can work out, make new friends and while doing so enjoy the fresh sea air and the view of the Atlantic Ocean and Lion’s Head.

One of the family favourites of Sea Point is the Putt-Putt mini golf course. Technically it lies on the edge of the neighbouring area of Mouille Point but anyone visiting or staying in the area of Sea Point will easily be able to access this attraction since the Promenade leads right past it. Have some fun and laughs with the kids and maybe have a showdown to see who can get the most holes in one! To make it even more interesting, the sea wind won’t let you accomplish such a feat without a challenge! One game costs R 22 per person. Three games per player cost R 44. A game for 10 or more players costs R 16.50 per person, to be paid altogether instead of individually.

During the blazing summer days, you’ll have a few options when looking for a way to cool off. Many of the apartments and homes in Sea Point have communal and private access respectively to pools. If you would rather go out, you could take a walk along the area’s small, yet beautiful stretch of beach, cooling your feet as the waves come rushing onto the shore. Another way to cool off would be to visit the Sea Point Pavilion, a popular establishment with several massive pools catering for the whole family. Even springboard diving is available for the more skilled and daring. The venue is so popular in the summer, that you should be mindful about when you choose to come.  In the winter, the place is open from 09:00 to 17:00 and in the summer from 07:00 to 19:00. Entry costs R 21 for adults and R 10.50 for children.

The large areas of luscious grass along the Promenade provide a popular venue for an informal soccer match. Friends enjoying one of the self-catering apartments or villas in Sea Point can get together and pass the time proving who has the best skill on the ball. Or if you’re up for it, get your friends together to challenge another group and then you’ll have an interesting and unpredictable soccer match for some exhilarating fun in the sun with the fresh sea air!
