The Fat Butcher Restaurant

Western Cape, Stellenbosch, Stellenbosch

Restaurant Description

One of the newer additions to Stellenbosch but certainly in a class entirely of its own, the Fat Butcher has fast become one of area's most anticipated and enjoyable dining experiences, appealing to locals with a craving for amazing meaty meals to tourists who are in search of something spectacular. Located in a historical building that has been revamped with classy leather booths, textured wall paper and edgy masculine appeal, the atmosphere is unique and memorable. The Fat Butcher serves amazing signature steaks which although on the expensive side, are worth every penny. Unique profiles of flavour come together beautifully to compliment these fine cuts and magnificently prepared steaks - The Steak Picasso showcases the flavours and textures of fillet, chocolate, chilli and beer and is served with an accompaniment of chips. The Huguenot, another speciality steak dish, is a blend of fillet with port wine and bone marrow jus, also served with chips.

Other signature dishes include the Fat Butchers skaapstertjies, the Van Riebeeck Burger, Sole and also a wonderful fatbutcher salad. 'Poeding', or dessert, is a selection of tantalizing chocolate brownies, Haagen Dazs ice creams and other stunning treats. A fantastic walk in cellar is home to The Fat Butcher's selection of wonderful wines, while guests can also order wines by the glass while other drinks include craft beers, dessert cocktails and more.
